Of course, C Span tends to give you tight shots of all white people... but apparently there are about a half million people there now.

Brannon Howse and Todd Friel have nailed it the last few weeks/months with their concerns over Glenn Beck's ecumenicism and the willingness of Christian leaders to subvert the exclusivity of Christ and his gospel to this political end.

I really like Glenn Beck, but when he started promoting Mormon mythology, he lost me and a lot of conservative Christians. And those who are speaking out and warning the flock against the ecumenical deception are taking a bit of friendly fire. Or supposedly friendly fire. Time will tell.

But oh, look, someone in favor of this trash posted it. It's probably been there a long time. I just managed to find it when someone asked me if Dan Southerland has a website. I started to look around, and had a hard time finding it. But I did find this:

Now you can all see how this guy deals with people in context, rather than listen to the smaller amounts Chris used to make his points. I think Chris was right on but, for the skeptics out there who want to wade through the whole thing

What happened to it? I know that one of the guys got busted for embezzlement (mentioned and linked in my previous post on the Dan Southerland subject) within about year after the Wall Street Journal article that I was interviewed for quoted them as saying that if 'disruptors' and purpose driven resisters leave your church you should warn the next church about them being troublemakers.

Most people already know I'm a troublemaker! :-)

But remember, John Piper as much as said the same thing... did anyone scream and holler about that? Only a few of us mentioned it to our friends, (also HERE for mention of the Membership Covenants specifically) but there was so much confusion over everything surrounding the invitation of Rick Warren that no one really paid attention to that, to the evolution thing, to the mysticism and subjective language, and those of us who brought up those other things got clamped down on pretty hard, especially by people like Phil Johnson.

he says Rick could put Bethlehem Baptist to shame in regard to their discipleship and enforcement of the church membership covenants etc. Todd Friel originally thought that was "grrrreat! Great Great great!" and I cringed when he said that. I just counted to ten and told myself Todd must, as often seems to happen, have no idea what is going on in order to think that is great. Which makes it very frustrating when, in the Ergun Caner case, while missing much of the information himself, he would get up and chide people for making comments on subjects in which they aren't fully or even adequately informed. Don't get me wrong, I love Todd, but he makes me a little crazy sometimes.

Also see 3:40 in that video where he talks about separation from others. This dovetails with his "prophetic word" for the young restless and reformed bunch that people have been talking about. (see below for the prophetic word video)

at about 41:30 he continues talking about the Holy Spirit on a related question posed by the interviewer. He also talks about praying for something and not being able to get victory, might be because you haven't got the right Spirit-gifted person praying for you. This goes into his discussion of encouraging, with very sloppy subjective compromising language, personal words from the Lord.

He wants them to flourish in these gifts and to take the time to ask people "did you bring anything to us from the Lord that you think we need to hear today?" he says "you can use whatever language you want. You can say "have you got a word of knowledge for us?" "Got a word of prophecy?" and if you're scared of that kind of language you can say "has God impressed upon you in some way something that you think somebody in this room, or all of us, need to hear, from your walk with God...and just open yourself up to that because that just might penetrate to the very core of somebody, or healing. or..."

This is bad news. He is definitely teetering on the edge of something not good. John Piper has so much good stuff that he has said, I hate to see this happening.

Who is this Kirk Bookmyer guy

So here's a true hyper Calvinist for you. What a horrid man. Apparently child rape and abortion are God's just judgement on the child. !? I do hope this man isn't trying to justify something in his mind.

Beware of Kirk Bookmyer and his wife Gail Bookmyer. I wouldn't normally bother saying anything about this nut, as you run into them all the time on FB, but Kirk claims to have a 'ministry' (where?) and justifies his own preaching and twisting half truths by saying: "That is the pot calling the kettle black. Have you ever preached every true thing that needs to be said. I will put my ministy up next to yours any day of the week" (see the linked pdf or original thread below for that quote).

[ASIDE: Hmm... that "my ministry is better than your ministry" threat makes me think of Rick Warren's latest challenge too: MY CHURCH CAN BEAT YOUR CHURCH SAYS RICK WARREN]

I had the displeasure of running into his wife Gail on Facebook. No worries, she blocked me. WHEW, saved me the trouble. She did this for my heinous sin of disagreeing with her that music styles are not inherently evil in and of themselves. She has bigger camels to swallow I guess. Even if you disagree with me on that issue... doesn't it seem to pale in comparison to what her husband is doing?

Oh and there was one post on her wall that said something like "would you be ashamed if Jesus saw your facebook wall?" Several commenters were saying ("In all humility" mind you) that they would not, but that SOME people who really SHOULD be ashamed probably would say the same. Well allrighty then!

So instead of drawing attention to the obvious need for a humility trophy presentation, I simply asked "Isn't that a strange question to ask about the omniscient creator of the universe?" And she almost immediately took away my ability to comment on anything on her wall. I figured ok I'll go back in a few days and remove her as a friend. She obviously has no ability to carry on a theological conversation and no interest in sharpening her skill in that area. Well lo and behold I cannot find her anywhere and the post which she made on my wall about music has her name grayed out.

The True Gospel (what a lie)

The first video there is heinous in its self righteousness. No gospel, no call to repentance, plenty of detail about sin, plenty of emphasis on works. Plenty of elocution worthy of a Power Rangers episode. I quote from the video: (Hebrews 12:14)..."clearly isn't talking about imputed righteousness, but rather about our own personal HOLINESS."

I have to give him credit, after talking to Mormon missionaries for upwards of 9 to 11 hours, that video gives the clearest presentation of the Mormon doctrine of salvation by grace I've heard.

Incidentally, why is he posting videos that use rock music, since his wife spent all that energy arguing with me about rock music being evil?
