William Tuck, heretic of Cool Spring, Mechanicsville VA

I just listened to one of the most abysmally man centered, devoid of scripture sermons I have heard in quite a while... And I listen to some BAD ones...

http://www.coolspring.org/

The message was
Where is God when Devastation and Suffering Reign?

Wow. What a weak god this man has. By telling us God limits his power so that he cannot stop 'bad' things from happening, he's put himself right back in the same situation he thought he escaped at the beginning of the sermon, with God NOT employing his power to make man's life nice and comfortable. Only in this man's scenario, God is not in the midst of the suffering, using it for his own GOOD purposes, either. It's just chaos. At what point, Dr Tuck, (does he REALLY have a PhD? What apostate seminary gave him that? Let's hope it's not a Theology PhD.

My friend Rett did a fantastic sermon analysis here, in 6 parts:

Responding to Dr. William Tuck of Cool Spring Baptist Church Pt. 1
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6

here is my email exchange with him:
Dr Tuck,

I just listened to your sermon from 2-14-10
"Where is God in the middle of devastation?"

I have a few questions for you to consider:

I then pasted Jay Bank's Quiz For Your Arminian Friends and linked to it.

I then added another question:

What comfort is it to have a God be with us if he cannot stop any of this devastation? Surely if he did not want to allow the effects of a fallen world to happen, an omnipotent caring God would intervene. You have painted a picture of a God that is either not omnipotent, or is omnipotent but does not care. Neither is scriptural, because you are speaking from your carnal mind.

I will pray that Cool Spring Baptist will replace you post haste with a pastor that preaches the God of Scripture, not a god of the pastor's own making.

I would prefer that you would repent of your idolatry and turn to the God of Scripture, who alone is worthy, who alone can save. In the meantime the people of Cool Spring would be in complete obedience to the Good Shepherd by rejecting your leadership, even in an interim capacity, and use some good and Biblical free teaching from www.twincityfellowship.com

His response was indeed thoughtful and oh-so-relevant to what I had asked:

Paula,
I pray that God will give you a kind and loving heart and spirit like our Lord Jesus. God bless you.

I replied, without much hope that he would read any further replies:

I don't want to worship your false Jesus, thankfully. I pray the true God of Scripture will draw you to repent of your idolatry. Whether or not you have a loving heart will depend on that. Telling people lies in the name of God is hateful, not loving. Jesus soundly rebuked the pharisees who twisted God's word, and he was the epitome of love.

What a tragic situation. I pray that the congregation at Cool Spring Baptist will take action to remove this man immediately, even if they just have to get together for elder/deacon led Bible Study on Sundays for a while, that would be better than feeding the flock this poison. And I pray that Dr William Tuck will repent of his heresy.
